Kadoorie Centre

Formerly known as the Kadoorie Agricultural Research Centre, HKU Kadoorie Centre was established in the mid‑1980s with the generous support of Sir Horace Kadoorie and Lord Lawrence Kadoorie. Officially opened on 7 June 1986 by the then Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Edward Youde, the Centre occupies 10 hectares of land near Shek Kong in the New Territories, with an extension completed in 1988.

Today, the Centre serves as a dynamic research and teaching facility in environmental science, agriculture, horticulture, and nature conservation. It provides field and residential facilities for students from HKU, other local and overseas institutions, secondary schools, and community groups. Beyond research and teaching, the Centre also hosts academic activities including student camps, training courses, seminars, and symposia, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among educational and professional communities.
